Sunday Night Football FanDuel Picks: NFL DFS lineup advice for Week 3 Packers-49ers single-game tournaments

[ad_1]

It’s always a treat when the Packers and 49ers meet on the gridiron. That’s the matchup we’re being served in Week 3’s edition of Sunday Night Football. Most analysts are picking the 49ers to prevail at home, and Vegas books opened the Niners as four-point favorites with a total of 47.5. Even so, we’re going to fade Jimmy Garoppolo in our FanDuel single game lineup. 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan just has too many ways to take the ball out of Garoppolo’s hands in scoring areas, so we’re pinning our DFS fortunes on the back of the QB who’s originally from California instead of the one who currently plays there.

As always, here’s a quick reminder of FanDuel’s scoring system for single-game contests: The point total for the “MVP” is multiplied by 1.5, but he doesn’t cost any additional money like the “Captain” in DraftKings Showdown contests. FanDuel’s default scoring is half-point PPR and four-point passing TDs, and there are no bonuses for 300-yard/100-yard games like on DraftKings.

FanDuel Single Game DFS Picks: Packers vs. 49ers

$60,000 budget, need at least one player from each team

MVP (1.5x points): QB Aaron Rodgers, Packers ($16,000)

There are a number of options who deserve looks for MVP, but we’re rolling with Rodgers. Between the weapons at his disposal and his own legs — we suspect he can still nick the goal line on a bootleg — Rodgers has a lot of paths through which he can put up points. It doesn’t hurt that the Packers showed a willingness last week to frequently dial up pass plays around the goal line.

FLEX: RB Aaron Jones, Packers ($13,000)

Jones ushered a lot of comeback fantasy wins on Monday night, so he’s going to have a few extra admirers on this slate. Davante Adams ($14,000) works here, as well, so submitting multiple lineups isn’t a poor strategy. Both are going to be heavily involved and a threat to score multiple touchdowns.

FLEX: TE George Kittle, 49ers ($11,500)

Kittle has received just nine targets this year, so his modest production to this point is to be expected. He’s always a threat to deliver 20-plus FanDuel points. One thing we can count on is that Kittle won’t remain quiet for long, and we saw in 2019 how dangerous he can be against the Packers (six catches, 129 yards, TD).

FLEX: WR Brandon Aiyuk, 49ers ($9,500)

Aiyuk investors are certainly frustrated by now, but there are signs suggesting that the second-year receiver is inching toward a 2021 breakthrough. His snaps increased from 26 to 38 in Week 2, and suggestions of his ”immaturity” seem overblown. He’s too dynamic of a weapon to be neglected, so once he’s in “game shape,” look for him to start making noise. There’s a good chance that will happen this week with Jaire Alexander shadowing Deebo Samuel.

FLEX: RB Trey Sermon, 49ers ($8,500)

If Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) misses Sunday night’s contest as expected, Sermon will get his chance to lead the 49ers’ ground attack and perhaps take hold of the No. 1 role. The 49ers are fourth in the NFL with 66 rushing attempts, so plenty of volume could be heaped onto Sermon’s plate if he’s up to the task.
