CAIRO, June 18 (Xinhua) — Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi discussed on Sunday the latest developments in war-torn Sudan with visiting Deputy Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereign Council Malik Agar.

During a meeting in Cairo, Agar lauded Egypt’s “sincere and tireless” support to maintain the safety and stability of Sudan, including taking in the Sudanese people, the statement said.

Agar also briefed Sisi on means of cooperation to deliver humanitarian and relief aid in Sudan.

Meanwhile, Sisi said Egypt has always been and will continue to be a source of support to Sudan, especially during the critical circumstances it is going through.

Stopping the fighting and shooting permanently and comprehensively and engaging in peaceful dialogue are the priorities for the related efforts, the Egyptian president noted.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for the cohesion, unity and territorial integrity of Sudan, saying his country will make every effort to achieve calm, stop the bloodshed, and advance the peace path.

Sudan has been witnessing deadly armed clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in the capital Khartoum and other areas since April 15, which has left 958 dead and 4,746 injured, according to the latest update by the Sudanese Doctors’ Union.
