NEW DELHI: It is indeed a rare occurrence for a bowler to achieve a hat-trick in any form of cricket, but the achievement becomes even more extraordinary when a player manages to secure a ‘double hat-trick‘.
In a remarkable display of skill and precision, 12-year-old junior player Oliver Whitehouse accomplished this feat during a match for his club, Bromsgrove Cricket Club, against Cookhill earlier this month.
In an astonishing over, Whitehouse took six wickets in six consecutive deliveries, an achievement known as a double hat-trick. However, his exceptional performance did not stop there. Across two overs, he continued to dominate the opposition, taking a total of eight wickets without conceding a single run.

This remarkable display of talent by a young player like Whitehouse is a testament to his skill, focus, and ability to deliver under pressure. Such extraordinary achievements often leave a lasting impression in the cricketing world and mark the beginning of a promising career.
“I couldn’t believe the significance of what he had achieved,” Jayden Levitt, the first team captain of Bromsgrove Cricket Club told the BBC.
“It’s absolutely amazing to get a double hat-trick in one over is absolutely mind-blowing, it’s an amazing effort and I think he probably won’t realise the significance until he’s a lot older.”

Whitehouse, who described his feat as unbelievable, became something of a social media sensation with a Twitter post about his heroics garnering 45,000 views.
His sporting prowess should perhaps come as no surprise as his maternal grandmother is 1969 Wimbledon tennis champion Ann Jones.
