Gaming peripheral brand Razer has quite the history when it comes to Pokemon tie ins, even if it is mostly restricted to franchise mascot Pikachu. No real surprise, as it’s probably the most recognisable pocket monster of them all to those outside of its fandom. But if the Let’s Go series is any indication, a close second is Eevee, with its adorable look and myriad of evolution forms. Now, a new collaboration lineup has been announced that features both critters.
More specifically, Razer has announced three new Pokemon Edition products to its lineup of peripherals and accessories. They are the BlackWidow V3 Tenkeyless, and the two sizes of the Gigantus V2 mat. The XXL mat deserves special mention beyond its immense size, but we’ll get to that in a bit.
We’ll start with the Razer BlackWidow V3 Tenkeyless Pokemon Edition. To go with the theme of both Pikachu and Eevee, the keyboard drops its default colour scheme in favour of something much brighter. Specifically, the frame is yellow to match the main mascot, with a layer of light grey and a Poke Ball pattern on top. The keys themselves are cream and brown to match Eevee’s fur colour. Flanking the directional keys are the two pocket monsters themselves. Beyond the visual difference, it’s the same keyboard underneath, featuring the company’s clicky Green keys.
Then there are the Gigantus V2 mats. The mats themselves are the same fabric surface with rubber foam, but it’s the print on the fabric that makes them special. There’s the standard M-sized mat showcasing both Pikachu and Eevee, both looking very adorable too. But it’s really the XXL mat that is the highlight of the lineup, with all eight Eeveelutions joining in.
All three of these Pokemon Edition peripherals are available now, according to Razer, but you’ll be paying a massive premium for each of them. The BlackWidow V3 Tenkeyless Pokemon Edition, for instance, is priced at RM989, slightly over double the price of the standard version of the tenkeyless keyboard. Then there’s the M-sized Gigantus V2 Pokemon Edition mat, which has an asking price of RM149. The XXL-sized mat has the smallest premium of the three relative to its original price, with the company asking for RM219 in exchange.
