Chouhan launched the scheme in the tribal-dominated region, which comprises eight districts including Kamalnath’s home turf Chhindwara, with big pomp and show while walking on a ramp like a rockstar on a stage as confetti and rose petals were showered on the women.
“My main aim is to improve lives of my sisters…and your brother have big plans for you. The scheme will not only be restricted to Rs 1,000 per month as and when funds will be arranged it will be increased by Rs 250 each time to take it to Rs 3,000 per month,” Chouhan said.
The scheme was launched at Jabalpur the nerve centre of Mahakasuhal region having 38 assembly constituencies.
In 2018 BJP narrowly lost the assembly election in Madhya Pradesh, the region contributed to its defeat as the party could manage only 13 seats while Congress won 23 seats.
This region is well entrenched with RSS and was bastion of BJP.The party had won 22 of 38 assembly seats in 2013 and had 24 seats in 2008. To regain its lost ground in the region BJP is betting big on women voters by repackaging Mama Shivraj as Bhaiya Shivraj.
