ASUS has officially announced the launch of the Zenfone 10, the follow-up to last year’s Zenfone 9 smartphone. The upcoming compact flagship will be unveiled on 29 June 2023 at 9PM local time, with the brand partly revealing its design and some of the key specs on the event’s landing page through a series of videos.
Firstly, it keeps the 5.9-inch display of its predecessor, maintaining its small form factor that’s convenient for one-handed use. To no one’s surprise, the flagship will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It will also feature a second generation six-axis gimbal stabilisation system for the camera and will support wireless charging, something that the Zenfone 9 lacked.
From the teasers, it seems that the Zenfone 10 will retain the left-alligned punch-hole cutout for the front camera. As for the rear setup, it’s unclear how many cameras it will have but at the very least, we can see it has the same bump design as last year’s model.
Not much else has been revealed by the company about the phone, but according to rumours, it might pack a 200MP Samsung sensor for its primary camera, an upgrade from last year’s 50MP sensor. It could also arrive with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage with IP68 dust and water resistance.
Powering the device is said to be a 5,000mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging, which is a massive improvement over the Zenfone 9 if true. Given that its predecessor had a 120Hz refresh rate, it would make sense for the Zenfone 10 to copy that spec as it’s already the same size.
Whether or not the new flagship will bring back features such as the 3.5mm headphone jack is still a mystery, so we’ll have to wait and see what the brand has in store. The launch will be broadcasted live and can be viewed on ASUS’ YouTube channel.
