NEW DELHI: Apple recently released iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 updates for iPhone and iPad users. Just a day after the rollout, the company has now seeded the first betas of iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1. The beta updates reintroduce features like SharePlay, lossless audio for HomePod, vaccine cards in wallet and more.
Here’s a look at everything new in iOS 15.1
SharePlay
The company has enabled the SharePlay feature in iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1 and tvOS 15.1 betas. Apple pulled the feature from iOS 15 as it was not functioning properly. Present in FaceTime, the SharePlay feature enables users to call their friends and family and then watch TV, movies and also listen to music together. The feature also allows users to share their screens. If the feature works during the testing then there are chances that the iPhone users will get it with iOS 15.1.
Lossless Audio for HomePod
The HomePod 15.1 beta and the new iOS 15.1 beta now adds Lossless Audio and Dolby Atmos with Spatial Audio support to the HomePod and HomePod Mini.
Vaccine cards in the wallet
In iOS 15 Apple introduced the ability to download and store verifiable health records in the Health app, this record also includes the Covid-19 vaccination records and health results. With iOS 15.1, users will be able to add vaccination records in the Wallet app, allowing users to provide the vaccination card to businesses, restaurants and other places where vaccines are required.
Announce calls
The new beta also shows the option of Announce calls. In the Settings for the Phone app, there’s a new icon for the ‘Announce Calls’ settings.
