The Egyptian national team have dropped two positions in the latest FIFA Men’s World ranking after disappointing displays in September.

The Pharaohs played two World Cup qualifying games at the start of September against Angola and Gabon respectively.

These two encounter marked the end of Hossam El-Badry’s rein as the Egypt national team head coach, due to the team’s poor performance under the former Al Ahly coach and was replaced by Portuguese manager Carlos Queiroz.

Egypt struggles against Angola at home in the first match but still managed to come out with the three points thanks to a Mohamed Magdy Afsha goal from the penalty spot.

In the second game, they were trailing against the Panthers and were on the verge of losing if it wasn’t for Mostafa Mohamed’s late equalizer.

As a result, they have dropped two positions in the FIFA ranking, moving from 46th to 48th.

Despite the decline, Egypt remain the sixth highest ranked African team behind leaders Senegal (20), Tunisia (25), Algeria (30), Morocco (33) and Nigeria (34). They’re also fifth among Arab countries, right behind Qatar.
