Anand Mahindra has a strong presence on the micro-blogging site and often voices opinions, dissents and ideas. The recent one, however, appears to find more detractors.
Mahindra on Twitter posted a video and wrote: After I RT’d the tweet about a Bolero in Gujarat wading through floodwaters, several of you shared this video that’s circulating on Youtube. I think we may well have to create a new vertical called ‘Mahindra Amphibious Vehicles’ (MAV’s!).

The video depicts a new Thar crossing the river brimming with water and with strong currents. The water level alarmingly reaches the window line of the off-road SUV as it tries to make its way through. The driver after crossing the river, takes a U-turn and repeats the process.
The new Thar was launched in 2020 and according to the specifications has a water wading capacity of 650 millimetres.
Netizens were split with the act and many found it scary, objectionable and dangerous.
“ … I sincerely think as a responsible CEO you should have not shared such videos as this looks extremely dangerous and it may encourage others to try such stunts …”: wrote Deepti Gupta.
Shashank Kishore wrote: “Why would anyone even try such a thing? It’s beyond me.” Isn’t it dangerous to promote this kind of stuff? What if ppl interpret it to be normal? wrote another user.
At the time of filing the story, the post received over 1,700 retweets and 20,000 likes.
Replying to the Tweet, Balu wrote: I guess we are waiting for some disaster to happen by promoting this sort of video even after seeing so many flood videos. Looks good in ads and by luck, Not easy to deny science and mother nature, better dont try.
Echoing similar sentiments, Pawan wrote: “Dear sir, with due respect I do understand your emotions involved in your powerful machines , but it is not a safe act. In case some one try this and unfortunately face the fatality, I don’t know whose fault to be counted.”
