​Journey to South Africa in 2009

2009 was probably the worst year for KKR which the franchise and their fans would want to forget. Ganguly was dropped as captain and Brendon McCullum was handed the reins. KKR finished at the bottom of the points table, winning just 3 games. Ganguly was under the scanner for his batting approach. In 13 matches, Ganguly scored only 189 runs at a strike rate of 91.30 with a highest of 46. Buchanan was sacked after this season.
