In October this year, Instagram announced that it is expanding the ability to add links in Stories to all accounts. The feature was previously available for verified accounts and accounts with a specific number of followers. The feature was a part of the company’s ditching the swipe-up links in Stories in favour of the new Link Stickers. Now, the Facebook-owned platform has announced that users can now customise the text and colour of your links in Stories.
The company revealed about the update in a reply to Tweet that announced the availability of Link Stickers for all users. The Link Sharing Stickers are available within the sticker tool from the top navigation bar while creating Instagram Stories. To add a link in the Instagram Stories, users will need to select the Link Sticker, paste the link they want to share and in the same section they can customise the text of the links. To change the colour of the Link Stickers, users need to place it on the story and tap on it. As of now, there are only five colour options available for the Link Stickers.
This week, the company also launched a new feature aimed to make the app usage safer for teens and young adults. The platform calls the feature ‘Take a Break’ and it has been reportedly rolled out in a few countries including US, UK, Canada and Australia. The feature tells users when to take a break from the app. Users can turn on the feature in ‘Settings’ and select if they want to get the alert after using the app for 10 minutes, 20 minutes or 30 minutes. After the set time-limit is crossed users get a full-screen alert telling them to close the app. The alert also suggests users to take a deep breath, write something down, check a to-do list or listen to a song.
