CAIRO, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) — Egypt’s Ministry of Transportation signed on Tuesday eight memos of understanding (MoUs) with several international companies in fields of railways, marine transportation, and inland ports, the ministry said in a statement.

“The deals, signed with international companies from Ukraine, Spain, Germany, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, and other countries, aim to localize the industries of railways, install ticket-booking systems and electronic gates, and administering and operating inland ports,” the statement said.

Egypt’s Minister of Transpiration Kamel al-Wazir called on at a smart transportation conference the private sector to contribute in administrating and operating several activities of the railways’ facilities to improve the services for passengers.

Transportation investments could include establishing companies for transfer commodities, operating tourist trains, installing and maintaining passenger carriages, according to the minister.

Al-Wazir added that a contract has been signed to manufacture and export 1,000 carriages for Egypt with an international factory, noting that Egypt plans to establish large factories to meet needs and export some products to Africa and the Middle East.
