As we previously reported, Universal Studios Hollywood is now requiring that all Guests be vaccinated or have a negative COVID-19 test in order to visit the theme park. However, Universal Orlando Resort is NOT requiring that guests be vaccinated OR have a negative covid test. So, do the two Universal theme park destinations in the U.S. have different rules?

The answer is this. In California, Los Angeles County Public Health mandate now requires visitors at mega-events in LA County — including theme parks like Universal Studios — to show a proof of COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test result in order to enter. This went into effect today, October 7.
Additionally, at Universal Studios Hollywood, regardless of vaccination status or test results, guests are still required to wear a face covering anywhere that the mandate is effective.
According to KTLA, health officials believe that this mandate is going to help reduce transmission of the forsaken coronavirus and its variants, that have been raging across the world for over a year now.

The reason that Universal Studios Florida does not have the same requirement for Guests is due to the fact that there is currently no mandate on the state or county level that states theme parks like Universal Orlando Resort have to require vaccines or a negative test.
Additionally, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been battling for months against mask and vaccine mandates in schools and privately owned businesses.
Even though vaccines, masks outside, and negative tests are not required, Universal Orlando still strongly suggests practicing social distancing, good hygiene practices such as washing hands and not touching your face, and wearing a mask in all indoor areas/attractions.

We previously reported on Universal Orlando requiring all employees to share their vaccination status, that way they can keep track of the health of its employees who deal with the public on a daily basis. According to WPTV, a spokesperson said the sharing of the status will make it easier on the behind the scenes staff.
“We are urging all our team members to be vaccinated if they are able to do so. And, we have let our team members know we will require them to share their vaccination status with us. This will allow us to better ensure adherence with our strict health and safety protocols,”

Posted below are official screenshots from Universal listing the requirements at both California and Florida properties.
