For anyone who’s asking “What time is the NASCAR race today?” the answer is: The race has been postponed to a different time because of inclement weather.
The Cup Series is at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend for the YellaWood 500, the fifth race in the 2021 playoffs. The 188-lap, 500-mile event was scheduled for a Sunday afternoon start, but NASCAR will now attempt to start at 1 p.m. ET on Monday.
NASCAR scheduled the majority of its 2021 Cup Series regular-season races for the daytime. The six remaining playoff races are all scheduled to begin in the afternoon. The final race to begin at night on the East Coast this season took place last Sunday at Las Vegas

What time does the NASCAR race start today?

The green flag for Monday’s NASCAR Cup Series playoff race on Talladega Superspeedway’s 2.66-mile oval is scheduled to drop at 1 p.m. ET on Monday. The track does not have lights, which makes an early-afternoon start necessary.
TALLADEGA LINEUP: Starting order, pole without qualifying
The National Weather Service called for showers and possibly a thunderstorm after the scheduled start time on Sunday, with a high temperature near 80. The weather service put the chance of precipitation at 60 percent.

NBCSN’s programming will begin at 1 p.m. ET with the race. Rick Allen will handle play-by-play duties for the race while Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Burton and Steve Letarte will provide analysis. Snider, Kelli Stavast, Dave Burns and Parker Kligerman are the pit reporters this weekend. Rutledge Wood will be a “specialty reporter,” in the words of NBC.
