Samsung has officially launched the new Galaxy M22 smartphone in Malaysia. A new addition to the brand’s mid-range M series, the sub-RM1,000 handset packs a MediaTek chipset, quad rear cameras and a large battery, among others listed in its specifications.
The Galaxy M22 isn’t the largest among its siblings, but it features a notable 6.4-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate and a waterdrop notch for its front facing camera. Also onboard is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric identification, a loudspeaker, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC connectivity, a 3.5mm jack, and Android 11 via Samsung’s One UI 3.1 out of the box.
Running all of its necessary functions and features is an octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 chipset, which is paired together with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of ROM. Like most smartphones, you can also expand Galaxy M22’s storage capacity further via microSD at up to 1TB in size. Powering the new handset is a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support via USB-C. Samsung confirms that a 15W charger is also included together with the smartphone.
On the back of the Galaxy M22 is a quad camera setup which consists of a 48MP main sensor, 8MP ultra wide-angle, 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. Housed within the notch on its display is a 13MP selfie camera.
The new Samsung Galaxy M22 is offered in black and light blue colours. It is priced at RM899, and is slated to be sold in Malaysia soon on 5 October 2021 via the brand’s official online store. Concurrently, in conjunction with the upcoming 10.10 campaign, Samsung is also offering the new mid-range smartphone at a discounted price of RM779 for a limited time through its official Shopee store, starting from 3 to 10 October.
