Instagram Reels will now be available in the Facebook app. The social media company has started rolling out Reels to Facebook users in the US for both iOS and Android devices. Reels on Facebook will be available in News Feed or in Groups. Users will be able to make Reels consisting of music, audio, effects and more.
“Today we’re launching Reels on Facebook for iOS and Android in the US. We’re bringing short form, entertaining video experiences and tools that have inspired creators on Instagram to more creators and audiences on the Facebook app”, the company wrote in a blog post.
When watching a Reel on Facebook, users will be able to follow the creator directly from the video, like and comment on it, or share it with friends. Facebook says that users can discover Reels based on their interests and what’s popular both at the top of News Feed alongside Stories and Rooms and in a new, dedicated News Feed section. Creators will be able to reach wider audiences through Facebook Reels and not just their existing followers.
Facebook testing feature to recommend Instagram Reels on Facebook
The social media giant also revealed that it is testing the ability for Instagram creators to have their reels recommended on Facebook. As part of the test, a small number of Instagram creators will see an option to have their reel recommended on Facebook. Creators will have the authority to decide whether they want to share it on Facebook or not.
Facebook has also announced the Reels Play Bonus program to invest over $1 billion in creators through 2022. With the new bonus program, Facebook will help creators earn money when people view their reels. Reels Play bonus will initially be invite-only. It will be available for users in the US and later expanded to other countries over time.
