Sushmita Dev is the main face fighting for Trinamool and expanding her party’s organizational base in Tripura and Assam.
The BJP leadership announced its decision on Monday not to nominate any candidate for the Rajya Sabha by-polls. Trinamool nominated candidate Sushmita Dev submitted her nomination for the Rajya Sabha seat today.
Sushmita Dev collected her certificate from West Bengal Assembly today. Sushmita said it was beyond her imagination that she will do politics from Assam but will also be the Trinamool Congress’ Rajya Sabha MP from West Bengal.
“Apart from West Bengal, issues of Tripura will also be raised in Rajya Sabha. We will give the strong fight to the BJP in Rajya Sabha,” Sushmita mentioned.
“West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is the popular face of the country. She is the alternative in the country and people of the country want to get rid of the fascist Modi government. We will fight the atrocities of the BJP government in the country,” Sushmita said.
Former Congress Lok Sabha MP Sushmita Dev joined Trinamool Congress in Kolkata on August 16 in the presence of party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien, after resigning from the primary membership of Congress.
The Former President of All India Mahila Congress, Sushmita Dev, is daughter of Assam Congress stalwart and influential Bengali leader Santosh Mohan Dev.
Criticizing the Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb for his recent comments about judiciary, Sushmita said, “We will participate in an internal meeting of the party to decide on the steps to be taken by the Trinamool against Biplab’s recent comment about judiciary.”
Addressing the government officials, Biplab on Sunday has expressed his displeasure over judiciary which received sharp criticism from Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee.
Sushmita Dev criticisized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over death of a child in Assam. “The Assam CM is misleading people in the name of giving lost lands back to the people that they lost during implementation of NRC. But the truth is in the process they are killing people and implementing their own parties agenda.”
