KHARTOUM — The Sudanese army on Sunday said it has repulsed an attempt by Ethiopian army to encroach into Sudanese territories on the borderline between the two countries.

“The (Sudanese) army has managed to repulse an attempt by the Ethiopian forces to encroach into Um Barakit sector in eastern of the country,” Press Adviser to the General Commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces, Brig. Al-Tahir Abu-Haga, told Xinhua on Sunday.

He added that the Sudanese army has forced the Ethiopian forces to retreat. (Sudan-Ethiopian forces-borderline)

TEHRAN– Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that U.S. action will be the criterion for Iran to decide on the nuclear negotiations, official news agency IRNA reported on Sunday.

“We said this clearly that we will use the Americans’ practical behavior as the basis of our judgment,” Amir Abdollahian was quoted as saying. (Iran-Nuke Talks-U.S.)

JERUSALEM– Israel’s Air Force received from the United States three new F-35 stealth fighter jets on Sunday, an Israeli military spokesperson said.

The jets, known in Israel as “Adir” which means “mighty” in Hebrew, landed at the Nevatim airbase in southern Israel. They “will join the ‘Lions of the South’ squadron and boost the array of Adir jets to protect the skies of Israel,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

With the new arrivals, Israel has 30 F-35 jets now. The jets are part of an acquisition of 50 F-35s. The first jets arrived in Israel in December 2016. (Israel-F35-Stealth jets)

CAIRO — The Ethiopian embassy in Cairo will suspend its work in Egypt starting in October for three to six months due to economic reasons, announced the Ethiopian Ambassador to Egypt Markos Tekle Rike.

According to Egypt’s official Ahram online news website on Sunday, the ambassador explained that the decision has nothing to do with the dispute over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) among Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan. (Egypt-Ethiopia-embassy)
