Cheetahs

Royal hunts, colonial exploitation and constant human interference led to the eventual extinction of cheetahs in India. Despite trying to reintroduce cheetahs to their native land, the initiative appears to have been unsuccessful so far. Decades after their extinction, in March 2023, India announced the birth of four cubs to one of the eight cheetahs that were relocated from Namibia. Unfortunately, in May, it was reported that two cheetah cubs died and a third was in critical condition.
