JAKARTA, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — At least 66 additional flights will be scheduled to and from Lombok International Airport to support the MotoGP race set to take place on Sept. 27-29 at the Mandalika Circuit in West Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia.
“These extra flights will be operated by Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, and AirAsia, while flight numbers from Lion Air and Wings Air will be announced soon,” said Lombok International Airport spokesperson Arif Haryanto on Thursday.
The additional flights will operate between Sept. 22 and Oct. 1, primarily serving domestic routes from Jakarta and Bali to support the influx of MotoGP attendees.
Lombok International Airport, which in early this month handled an average of 7,400 passengers daily with 76 flights, will also facilitate the transportation of race logistics. The cargo is expected to arrive on Sept. 24-25.
