MOGADISHU — A joint airstrike carried out by the Somali and U.S. forces killed three Islamic State (IS)-Somalia fighters in the latest airstrike in northeastern Somalia on Friday evening.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan — Three people were killed and 21 others injured in a highway accident in south Afghanistan’s Kandahar province on Saturday, spokesperson for provincial police department Mullah Asadullah Jamshid said.
The deadly accident took place on the road in Maiwand district along a highway linking Kandahar with the western Herat province when a car collided with a rickshaw, the official said, adding that the reason for the crash could be reckless driving. (Afghanistan-Highway Accident)

CAIRO — Officials from Egypt, Israel and the United States are scheduled to hold a meeting on Sunday in Cairo to discuss the reopening of the Rafah crossing in Gaza, Egypt’s Al-Qahera News TV channel reported.
Egypt affirmed to all parties its position of not reopening the Rafah crossing as long as its Palestinian side is under Israel’s control, said the report, citing a high-ranking security source. (Egypt-Rafah)
