Yoodo To End Free 5G Trial Pass On 4 July

Yoodo has announced on its website that it will be ending its free 5G trial next month. Starting from 5 July onwards, the pass will no longer be a free add-on but instead, customers will have to purchase it at an additional cost.

The free trial pass was first introduced back in February. Initially, the MVMO only supported Android devices but a couple of months later, it expanded support to include iPhones. Up until now, the company had not revealed when the free trial would end.

On 5 July, Yoodo’s 5G pass will cost an additional RM10 per month on top of your plan, although it will be offering it at a promo price of RM5 until further notice. Similar to the trial pass, users can only add on the new pass if they purchase a plan that has a minimum data quota of 10GB.

The pass won’t be able to be purchased as a separate booster, meaning that if you didn’t get it yet while buying your base plan, you’ll have to add it to your next billing cycle. This can be done by going into the Yoodo app and selecting “change plan” on the line you want to amend.

This change isn’t surprising given that its parent company, Celcom, is also ending its free 5G pass for some users this month. From July onwards, postpaid Celcom users on plans costing below RM90 will have to pay an extra RM10 per month if they wish to enjoy the faster speeds.

In related news, the mobile service rolled out customisable validity periods earlier this month. With this, customers can pay for their plans either three or six months in advance to get discounts on the total amount. However, this option is only available if the plan costs a minimum of RM30.
