CAIRO, June 13 (Xinhua) — Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani on Tuesday discussed boosting bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, investment and infrastructure.

The two leaders exchanged views on Arab and regional issues of mutual concern and affirmed keenness on enhancing joint Arab action to counter the multiple challenges in the region and meet the peoples’ aspirations of peace and stability, according to the spokesman of the Egyptian presidency Ahmad Fahmy.

Sisi reiterated “Egypt’s firm support of Iraq’s security and stability on the basis of the two countries’ solid and strategic relations” while al-Sudani lauded Egypt’s prominent role in maintaining stability and improving the development, economic and social conditions in the region.

Leading a high-level delegation of cabinet ministers, the Iraqi prime minister arrived in Cairo on Monday for a two-day visit. A wide range of cooperation agreements are expected to be signed between the two countries during the visit.
