Shinde, who was on a trip to J&K, met Sinha at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar stating that Kashmir has witnessed ‘admirable progress’ since the abrogation of article 370 under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shinde said abrogation of article 370 has fulfilled the dream of Balasaheb Thakrey.
“Understanding the value of tourism and cultural exchange in enhancing relationships and economic growth, I ask your consideration in allocating a land plot in Kashmir to build Maharashtra Bhawan,” said Shinde in a letter addressed to Sinha. The CM of Maharashtra said that the evolution of the region after August 2019, brings about an ideal opportunity for greater integration of the two regions and this project will be a step in that direction.
Shinde along with 15 people including his immediate family members arrived in J&K on June 8 and paid obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Katra of Jammu. Later they travelled to the Valley and stayed in hotels in Gulmarg and Srinagar. During his stay in the Valley he met some businesspersons, political workers and social activists. Shinde also addressed a meeting of Shiv Sena’s office bearers from north India in Srinagar.
“This establishment in Srinagar would not only showcase Maharashtrian art, culture and cuisine but also offer accommodation and support to Maharashtrians visiting Kashmir. It will serve as a vibrant venue for cultural events and conversations fostering a rich exchange of ideas,” Shinde wrote in the letter. Maharashtra chief minister while seeking the approval in principle said that his government will adhere to all guidelines and procedures for the eco-friendly development that respects Kashmir’s culture and natural legacy.
Shinde said that he envisions Maharashtra Bhawan in Kashmir as a hub for students, entrepreneurs and officials from the two regions to engage, cultivate connections and collaborate on shared interests. “I am eager to discuss this proposal further and work hand in hand towards bringing our states closer in this new era. I am available to provide any additional information you may require,” said Shinde. Meanwhile Shinde, while addressing party workers said that Modi will break all the records in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and get a thumping majority. He said that several parties have joined hands to fight against Modi but they are unable to put forth a single prime ministerial candidate for the Lok Sabha elections as was the case in 2014 and 2019.”Modiji is taking this country to Mahasatta. We will break all records in 2024 and get a big win under Modiji,” said Shinde adding, “Modiji doesn’t respond to allegations…until lion roars, others keep making noises, but when the lion roars everyone else flees and that will happen (in 2024).”
In response to a query regarding the recent violence in Maharashtra, Shinde said that the government has the responsibility to maintain law and order. “Opposition repeats the same things again and again. They come out with the posters and banners of Aurangzeb and Tipu Sultan. We won’t allow this to happen in Maharashtra,” said Shinde adding, “Maharashtra belongs to Chatrapati Shivaji. Our government is running on his principles and ideals. So, whosoever takes law in his own hands won’t be spared.”
