India’s young and talented athletes, Rezoana Mallick Heena and Bharatpreet Singh, made a resounding start to the Asian U-20 Athletics Championship by clinching gold medals in their respective events.
The championship kicked off with a bang as these rising stars displayed their exceptional skills in women’s 400m race and men’s discus throw, respectively. The event took place on Sunday amidst a charged atmosphere.
Rezoana, a promising sprinter, delivered a scintillating performance in the women’s 400m race. She crossed the finish line in a remarkable time of 53.31 seconds, falling just short of her personal best of 53.22 seconds. Heena’s outstanding run secured the gold medal for India, further solidifying her reputation as a rising star in athletics.

Notably, this victory comes on the heels of her previous gold medal triumph at the Asian U-18 Athletics Championships in Tashkent back in April, highlighting her consistent excellence.
Meanwhile, Bharatpreet Singh demonstrated his prowess in the men’s discus throw event, seizing the gold medal for India. With a stellar throw of 55.66 meters, Bharatpreet showcased his exceptional technique and strength. His achievement on the opening day of the championships set a positive tone for India’s campaign, igniting hopes for further success in the competition.

Adding to India’s medal tally, Antima Pal claimed a bronze medal in the women’s 5,000m race. She showcased her endurance and determination, completing the race in a commendable time of 17 minutes and 17.11 seconds. Pal’s tenacity and impressive performance added another accolade to India’s successful day at the championship.
