SUKOHARJO, Indonesia, June 3 (Xinhua) — Sweet corn in Gatak village in Sukoharjo, Indonesia, is ready for harvest with brown tassels and milky kernels.
Local farmers have been busy wading through the shoulder-high cornstalks to pick and collect corn cobs before selling them to the traditional market.
Corn is among the paramount staple crops consumed by people in eastern Indonesia. East Java remains the largest corn-producing area of the country, contributing around 40 percent of national corn output.
