Star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins may be staying with the Arizona Cardinals after all.
Hopkins’ potential departure from the desert has dominated Cardinals-related headlines throughout much of the offseason. General manager Monti Ossenfort said last week early during the NFL Draft that he didn’t “foresee” a Hopkins trade happening this offseason.
“Nuk” played in a career-low nine games last season, thanks in large part to his six-game PED suspension. Hopkins was still his usual productive self though, collecting 64 receptions for 717 and three touchdowns while posting a solid 66.7% catch percentage.
Despite missing nearly half of the season, the five-time Pro Bowler was still first among all Arizona players in receiving yards and finished second in catches and targets, just behind Marquise Brown in both categories.
As noted by Darren Urban of azcardinals.com, Hopkins has never publicly requested a trade, but has “hinted around the idea.” It was reported in March that the Cardinals had given permission to talk to the former All-Pro regarding a possible trade.
Hopkins will turn 31 years old in June and is slated to hit free agency following the 2024 campaign.
