The injured persons are undergoing treatment at Civil hospital. District magistrate Surya Pal Gangwar, who visited the injured persons in the hospital, said that an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased would be given from the state government.

Joint Commissioner of police, law and order, Piyush Mordia told TOI that heavy downpour caused the tragedy. “We have so far learnt that all the nine deceased were from Jhansi district and had made their shacks near the under-construction site,” said Mordia. He also said that the identities of the deceased were yet to be ascertained. The whole area has been cordoned off for civilians.

Lucknow DM also rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to visit the hospital.
Holiday declared in schools
Lucknow and neighbouring areas have been witnessing heavy rain since yesterday. The district authorities have declared holiday for all schools in view of rain and heavy waterlogging in several areas.
In his order, the district magistrate Surya Pal Gangwar asked the concerned officials to communicate it to all the schools so that parents get the message on time.

The Lucknow distrcit administration has issues guideline for people in view of forecast regarding heavy rain till September 17. Poeple have been asked to vacate old and dilapidated houses and move to safer places.
