Seaweed Bath Co., an ocean-inspired, natural personal care brand, today announced lower pricing and a reimagined look that embraces the nourishing magic of the ocean. The brand’s investment in new packaging, its unique opportunity to lower many retail prices, and a fresh focus on marketing is expected to drive a 50 percent increase in retail sales. The brand is currently sold online and at more than 5,000 retail locations nationwide.

“Since we started the brand more than 10 years ago, our mission has always been to harness the endless gifts of the ocean in inspiring, nourishing and restoring skin and hair care formulas,” said Allison Grossman, Co-Founder, Seaweed Bath Co. “Our brand is constantly evolving and innovating, and now felt like the perfect time for a major refresh.”

Seaweed Bath Co. launched in 2010 with products that were specifically formulated to improve dry, sensitive skin, but the brand has evolved and expanded, with their refreshed approach communicating the wider benefits of marine-derived ingredients for all skin and hair types.

“With the direction we are heading with new products and brand growth, it made complete sense to redesign our packaging and showcase a fresh, clean look that captures the magic of the sea and focus on all of the incredibly beneficial marine-derived ingredients we use in our products, including our sustainably-harvested, nutrient-dense Atlantic seaweed,” continued Grossman.

Refreshed Packaging and Look

As part of the refresh, Seaweed Bath Co. will introduce new packaging, including a custom bottle, with a unified architecture and a consistent look across all products and lines to create a strong brand block and visual impact on the retail shelf. The modern design features holographic waves and typographic elements to surprise and delight and evoke the mesmerizing energy of the sea.

“Our consumers are drawn to our products because of their love for the ocean and the way it makes them feel, so the inspiration for the new look is that energizing feeling we all get after a trip to the sea or taking in the magic hour as the sun sets over the ocean,” Grossman explained.

Pricing

In addition to the new look, the brand is lowering pricing on 18 of its current SKUs, with an average 20 percent decrease, to be more competitive and approachable to consumers.

“Because of our strong relationships with our suppliers and our continued growth and expansion, Seaweed Bath Co. has the unique – almost unheard of – opportunity to lower our retail prices.” said Grossman.

Sustainability Efforts

Sustainability is an important part of Seaweed Bath Co., and their efforts moving forward including sustainably harvesting their seaweed, using recyclable packaging, creating a custom bottle to reduce label waste, producing their bottles with post-consumer resin and using solar power at their production facility.

Marine Mammal Partnerships

Seaweed Bath Co. is also fulfilling a long-term goal to support ocean conservation with the launch of two new partnerships with marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation organizations: Pacific Marine Mammal Center and Marine Mammal Center.

Pacific Marine Mammal Center (PMMC) is responsible for rescuing and rehabilitating animals stranded on beaches along the Orange County coast and is a member of the Marine Mammal Stranding Network that services animals along the entire coastline of the United States. Seaweed Bath Co. will highlight PMMC with quarterly social media takeovers to spotlight the organization’s conservation efforts. The company also plans to offer individual and team volunteer opportunities with the organization.

The Marine Mammal Center (TMMC) is the world’s largest marine mammal hospital and rescues more marine mammals than any other organization in the world. The Seaweed Bath Co. recently adopted and named a whale as part of TMMC’s Name-a-Whale Program and will continue to support and highlight TMMC and their efforts.
