MALAYSIA’s death toll due to Covid-19 has reached above 30,000, with an additional 63 dead cases reported yesterday.
This brought the total number of deaths to 30,063.
Out of 63 new deaths, 13 involved brought-in-dead cases.
Malaysia detected 4,885 Covid cases yesterday, pushing the number of active cases to 67,986.
According to the government’s data, 98.1 per cent of the new infections, or 4,794 cases are in categories one and two.
Bernama reported Health minister Khairy Jamaluddin cautioned that Malaysia is still not out of the woods in its Covid-19 battle.
“We know that this is a particularly stubborn virus, it’s not going anywhere but we have to continue to move forward, reopening safely but at the same time ensuring that our public health care system is not crippled or paralysed,” he said.
Khairy reminded those who have already received their appointments for a booster dose to go for it especially those above 40 years old and individuals with comorbidity.
