Stephen Curry injury update: Will Warriors star play vs. Pistons?

[ad_1]

Stephen Curry sure didn’t look like he was feeling much pain while he was torching the Cavaliers on Thursday night.

The Warriors star, who has been dealing with a hip injury, scored a game-high 40 points in Golden State’s 104-89 win over Cleveland. He went off for 20 points in the fourth quarter alone, and the Warriors outscored the Cavs 36-8 in the period to secure the victory.

Golden State will enter the second game of a back-to-back set having won nine of its last 10 games. The Warriors will face the Pistons in Detroit on Friday night, but will their MVP candidate be available to play?

Here are the latest updates on Curry’s status.

Will Stephen Curry play vs. Pistons?

During his postgame media availability on Thursday, Curry admitted that his hip was still bothering him and noted that he would get an assessment from the medical team. Curry suffered a left hip contusion on Tuesday against the Nets after stepping in front of Brooklyn star James Harden and taking a charge. He was officially listed as questionable heading into Thursday’s contest, then later upgraded to probable.

“That charge really messed with me a little bit, so I’m just trying to deal with that a little bit,” Curry said. “So, we’ll see how it feels when I wake up.”

After the matchup with the Pistons on Friday, the Warriors will travel back to the Chase Center to battle the Raptors on Sunday.

Through 15 games, Curry is averaging 29.5 points, 6.5 assists, 6.1 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game with 46.3/41.9/95.8 shooting splits (field goals/3-pointers/free throws). He is currently on pace to shatter his own single-season 3-point record.
