CHURACHANDPUR (MANIPUR): An Assam Rifles commanding officer and three paramilitary force personnel were on Saturday killed after terrorists ambused their convoy in Manipur‘s Churachandpur district.
The attack on the 46 Assam Rifles unit also claimed the lives of the family members of the commanding officer.
Condemning the ‘cowardly attack’, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh said, “The State forces & Para military are already on their job to track down the militants. The perpetrators will be brought to justice.”

The commanding officer was on his way to supervise a civic action programme in the Churachandpur, bordering Myanmar.
“Convoy of a commanding officer of an Assam Rifles unit ambushed by terrorists in Singhat sub-division of Manipur’s Churachandpur district. Family members of the officer along with the Quick Reaction Team were in convoy. Operation is currently under way,” said sources.
