The Nikon Z9 brings a revolutionary full-frame (Nikon FX-format) mirrorless camera designed to surpass expectations. It features unrivalled performance and breakthrough features that are firsts for both the mirrorless category and Nikon.
Nikon Z9: Key features
With an advanced algorithm that utilizes the newly developed deep learning technology, the Nikon Z9 comes with the world’s largest variety of simultaneous subject detection. This tracks a total of nine subjects simultaneously in both stills and videos without the need to toggle back and forth to switch settings.
Additionally, you find an increased 405-point auto-area AF for improved tracking of smaller objects and 3D tracking for still image shooting. The latter is a first for Nikon mirrorless cameras to seamlessly capture split-second moments. Dual-Stream technology with a 45.7 effective megapixels stacked CMOS sensor also achieves 12 times faster still image reading.
The viewfinder on the camera is improved too, with a newly equipped Quad-VGA panel delivering the world’s brightness performance. It features the all-new Real-Life Viewfinder which unlike conventional blackout-free shooting where the same frame is displayed to prevent interruption, this viewfinder continues to display actual movement within the scene.
Nikon Z9: 8K video recording
The Nikon Z9 offers in-camera video recording in 8K/30p, and 4K/30p/60p/120p which is the highest video performance in Nikon history. With efficient heat dissipation, you can record 8K/30p video for just over two hours. The ability to extract high-resolution stills from 8K videos in 120p after video shooting is key for cutting-edge quality in photos and videos, something Nikon’s new flagship camera provides.
You can also choose to record at 4K resolution even when recording slow-motion video. Enhancements such as CFexpress Type-B compatibility in both card slots and support for various codecs like H.265 (HEVC) and Apple ProRes 422HQ are here too to meet the diverse needs of photographers. Furthermore, 12-bit RAW capture and 8K60p video are planed in a future firmware update.
Nikon Z9: Durability
The Nikon Z9 comes without a mechanical shutter which enables users to shoot with the world’s most minimal rolling shutter distortion and the fastest scan rate. Additionally, you will also find enhancements to protect the image sensor on-board. Great external durability and reliability is also ensured with effective sealing giving you high dust and drip resistance.
