Amazon is releasing a new update to its Alexa-enabled smart speakers and displays that adds new capabilities to its AI-based voice assistant. Among other things, the most noticeable feature that this update brings is the ability to take music on the go with just a simple command.
The new feature allows users to move music between multiple Alexa-enabled devices using their voice.
What that means is if you’ve multiple Alexa devices in your home and car, you now move music between them with voice commands.
For instance, if you are listening to something on your bedroom Alexa speaker and want to continue that in the kitchen while cooking breakfast or lunch, you can simply ask Alexa (the one which is currently playing) to pause and move to the kitchen and ask Alexa to resume it here. The feature works with all Echo devices including Echo Auto and Echo Buds.
Another interesting feature that the latest update brings is for smart displays. So, if you happen to own an Echo Show and are a football fan, then you ask Alexa to play a two-minute drill. It’s an NFL game show that offers expert analysis on the next match.
Apart from that, the Alexa app also gets an Automotive Hub within the Alexa app. It’s a new page with new information on how to use Alexa while driving. Though the feature works only for vehicles that are Alexa-enabled.
