Despite returning to practice this week, Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey may have to wait a bit longer before he can suit up for a game.
According to multiple reports, the do-it-all first-team All-Pro is doubtful for Carolina’s week five tilt against the Philadelphia Eagles.
McCaffrey made his highly-anticipated return to the practice field on Wednesday and head coach Matt Rhule said Thursday that he was “hopeful” that the 2019 Pro Bowler would be playing on Sunday. McCaffrey suffered a hamstring injury during Carolina’s Week 3 victory over the Houston Texans and sat out last Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys, their first of the season.
2021 fourth-round draft pick Chuba Hubbard has supplanted “Run CMC” as Carolina’s lead back, rushing 11 times for 52 yards and adding three receptions for 27 yards against Houston. Hubbard collected 57 rushing yards on 13 carries and 14 yards on two receptions against Dallas.
