Major Endorsements for Felicia Singh- Democratic Nominee for City Council in District 32
Queens, NY – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announces his endorsement of Felicia Singh, Democratic Nominee for City Council in District 32.
Singh’s race is widely considered to be one of the most consequential races in NYC, with District 32 being the last remaining Republican-held city council seat in Queens. Registered Democrats outnumber Republicans 3-1 in the district, yet constituents have been represented by a Republican for the last 12 years. Council-member Ulrich, who is term-limited, holds one of the three remaining Republican-held seats in city council.
“I am proud to endorse Felicia Singh, Democratic nominee for the 32nd City Council District,” said Senator Schumer. “This race is one of the most important in New York City because it is a chance to flip the last Republican seat in Queens. District 32 was part of my previous congressional district, and this is why I am confident that Felicia is the right choice for this community. She has the vision, talent and experience to get things done and I know she will fight for her entire district”
“It is an honor to have the support of Senate Majority Leader Schumer. His endorsement is a testament to the strength of a unified Democratic Party on all levels of government in New York. I applaud how he has joined the fight for debt relief on behalf of taxi drivers and their families. I look forward to continuing to advocate for our most vulnerable communities together,” said Singh.
Queens Assemblywoman Catalina Cruz announced her endorsement of Felicia Singh, Democratic nominee for City Council in District 32. She joins a coalition of over 60 endorsers, including current elected officials, grassroots and community-based organizations, and labor unions.
“I proudly endorse Felicia Singh, Democratic nominee for City Council,” said Queens Assemblywoman Catalina Cruz. “My family lives in District 32, and I trust Felicia will advocate for them as if they’re her own. She’s fighting for the dignity of immigrants and working-class families and I look forward to working with Felicia to bring the much needed resources and funding that NYers need.”
“I am thrilled to have the support of Assemblywoman Catalina Cruz. She grew up as a DREAMer, and we share the working-class, immigrant experience – including the struggle of exploitation and lack of equitable access to resources. I am hopeful about the future wellbeing of our communities because of the strong relationships we’re building state-wide as Democrats. I’m proud to have Assemblywoman Cruz as part of our coalition,” said Singh.
If Singh wins the general election, she would be the first woman, the first Punjabi and Guyanese person, as well with her identities as Sikh and Muslim to represent District 32 in the City Council.
