JAKARTA, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) — The number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 2,557 in the past 24 hours to 4,204,116, with the death toll adding by 144 to 141,258, the Health Ministry said on Friday.
According to the ministry, 4,607 more recovered patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries from the pandemic to 4,017,055.
On Friday, Indonesia received a new batch of Sinovac vaccines through a bilateral cooperation scheme with the Chinese government, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said at a virtual press conference.
She said Indonesia has so far received 273.6 million doses of vaccine.
To date, at least 47.77 million people in Indonesia have received two shots of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 85.01 million have taken their first dose, the health ministry said.
Indonesia has set a target to vaccinate 208.2 million people or 80 percent of its population against COVID-19.
