Yahoo DFS Picks Week 3: NFL DFS lineup advice for daily fantasy football GPP tournaments

[ad_1]

It’s on to Week 3, where football fans and daily fantasy football players will be treated to fresh storylines and some tasty matchups. Our Week 3 Yahoo DFS picks include a quarterback making his first start paired with his top wide receiver, an expensive running back, and some bargains at WR who are poised to pay off.

One thing we won’t be treated to is access to Christian McCaffrey. The Panthers play the Texans on Thursday night, so he’s off the main slate. It’s okay, though. Derrick Henry and Dalvin Cook are capable of carrying a lineup to the tune of 30-plus fantasy points, and both are available to serve as an anchor for lineups this week.

WEEK 3 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

The Packers, 49ers, Cowboys, and Eagles are also unavailable due to their prime-time games. That leaves a lot of typical chalk plays out of commission, so it’s a good week to differentiate your lineups. Remember, this lineup is geared toward fantasy football GPP tournaments, so we want to play some guys who won’t be heavily owned.

Before we break down our picks, just a reminder of some key rules for Yahoo DFS. It’s essentially the same as FanDuel, with four-point passing TDs and half-point PPR. In the past, the Sunday Night Football game used to be available on Yahoos’ main slate, but that won’t be the case this year

Sunday main slate, $200 budget, no more than six players from the same team.

  • Andy Dalton (knee) is expected to sit out Week 3 and has been labeled week-to-week. There is certainly some risk rolling with the dual-threat rookie, but we know how dynamic he is as a runner and a playmaker. It doesn’t take a particularly colorful imagination to envision a scenario in which he seizes the starting role for good.

  • There’s nothing wrong with simplicity. We’re not looking for diversification with Henry, but we’re not going to shy away from him when he’s still carving through defenses like a runaway freight train. Not to mention, he has 10 targets through two games.

  • It hasn’t been the most efficient start for Harris, but he gave us a glimpse of what we’ve been expecting since he was drafted by the Steelers No. 24 overall last spring. He’s handling 40 percent of the Steelerstouches through two games. It’s only a matter of time before he hits another gear from a fantasy perspective.

  • Sutton served as a target hog in the Broncos’ first game without Jerry Jeudy (ankle). If Sutton is going to pair big-play ability with this degree of volume in Jeudy’s stead, he’s going to be a weekly fixture in our lineups.

  • Ability was never the issue for Williams, the Chargers’ target (22) and touchdown (2) leader through two weeks. If he’s healthy and serving as a sidekick to Keenan Allen — as opposed to a sidecar — he could be in store for a profitable day in a presumptive shootout.

  • Two-time All-Pro Jalen Ramsey will spend his afternoon occupying Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and maybe even Rob Gronkowski in select spots. Brown was quiet against the Falcons last week, but look for the Bucs to feature different combinations of receivers from game to game. Obviously, if Brown is forced to sit because of his placement on the COVID list earlier this week, we’ll sub him out, but we’re tentatively still expecting him to play.

  • It’s always nice to have a tight end who can eclipse the 20-point threshold in a given week. Waller has already accomplished the feat once this season. He hung a 5-112 line on the Dolphins last year, and time will tell if they’ve found the formula to contain him.

  • Robinson has yet to get going, but we can be confident that he will in short order. He saw 11 targets against a tough Rams secondary before finding the end zone the following week. If Fields gets the start at quarterback — which is the expectation — Robinson would present a quality safety blanket for the rookie.

  • The Bills have surrendered the second-fewest points in the league, rank third in quarterback pressure percentage, and second in sacks. Beefing up the pass rush was among the Bills’ top offseason priorities, and they appear to have succeeded on that front. They have playmakersat each level of the defense and could find themselves in a position to make big plays against an inexperienced quarterback.
