Upcoming Android 12.1 Reveals Second Foldable Google Pixel Device

[ad_1]

We have heard reports that Google was making its own foldable device using Samsung’s ultra-thin glass (UTG). An upcoming Android 12 has revealed that the internet search giant has another one in the works.

9to5Google reports that in an upcoming mid-cycle release that it’s calling Android 12.1, it has found details of a foldable device that’s separate from what was previously known. The outlet claims that while the previous device was referred to as the Passport, this one bears the codename Jumbojack.

Details are not exactly plentiful, but the report states that like many other foldable devices out in the market, Jumbojack has two displays. And when the device is folded, one of them becomes unavailable. This is presumanly the larger display of the two that sits on the inside when folded, leaving a secondary one on the outside.

There are also references of Jumbojack being used as a tester device. Google has used it to test a feature known as “posture”, which refers to the foldable device’s hinge positions being “opened”, “closed”, “half-opened” and “flipped”. Like many Pixel devices, it will also feature tweaks to Android 12 that other foldables won’t get until Android 12.1.

For now, it remains to be seen if this Jumbojack, or the previous Passport for that matter, will actually see the light of day. With the way the device is so tied to Android 12.1, its official reveal is probably when the company will reveal more about the device.
