TEHRAN — Iran’s health ministry on Saturday reported 12,847 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country’s total infections to 5,408,860.

The pandemic has so far claimed 116,791 lives in the country, after 355 new deaths were registered in the past 24 hours, according to the update by Iran’s Ministry of Health and Medical Education. (Iran-COVID19-Cases)

SANAA — Yemen’s Houthi militia on Saturday executed nine people in a public place for allegedly spying for Saudi Arabia.

The nine were brought by an armored vehicle to al-Sabeen Square in the capital Sanaa and were put in a line in the middle of the square. (Yemen-Execution-Spy)

JERUSALEM — The death toll from the coronavirus in Israel rose by 42 to 7,507 on Saturday, the state’s Ministry of Health said.

The ministry also reported 4,863 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the tally of infections in the country to 1,219,374. (Israel-COVID19)

CAIRO — Egyptian archaeologists unearthed ancient tools once used in religious rituals at a temple site in Kafr el-Sheikh province north of the capital Cairo, said the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in a statement on Saturday.

The discovered objects include part of a limestone pillar in the form of goddess Hathor, a group of faience incense burners, a set of clay pots, a collection of statuettes, a purely golden Udjat eye and remains of golden scales. (Egypt-Antiquities-Discovery-Pharaohs)
