ALGIERS, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) — Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf met with his visiting Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi on Wednesday to enhance the two countries’ cooperation, Algeria’s state-owned APS news agency reported.
During the meeting, Attaf said Algeria is willing to work together with Indonesia to give new impetus to the long-standing ties, particularly in economic, political and social dimensions.
He mentioned that Algeria had officially submitted a request to join the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.
Marsudi, for her part, said her country endorses Algeria’s bid to join the ASEAN-innitiated treaty.
She noted that Indonesian state-owned Pertamina energy company was planning to invest 900 million U.S. dollars in Algeria.
The two ministers witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement in the fields of energy and mining, APS reported.
