MIRI (Nov 16): The Magistrates’ Court here today sentenced an Indonesian man to seven months in prison for drug abuse.
Magistrate Leona Dominic Mojiliu convicted Mohammad Zamri, 44, on his own guilty plea to a charge framed under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The court ordered the sentence to run from the date of his arrest on Aug 12, 2021.
Mohammad will also be referred to the Immigration Department for further action upon serving his term.
He was found to have abused both amphetamine and methamphetamine on Aug 12, 2021 at around 8.30am at the Miri Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) office here.
ASP Mary Ong prosecuted the case while the accused was unrepresented by counsel.
