Ismaily are in need of a striker after parting ways with Fakhreddine Ben Youssef, who has now joined Pyramids FC, and should he impress, he is likely to get a deal.

But, the Zambian international has been out of a job since his departure at Cape Town back in July, after only spending six months with the Mother City based outfit. In his spell with Cape City, the striker played 13 matches for the club, but failed to find the back of the net and ended up seeing his contract being terminated at the end of the season.

Shonga’s career has not looked good since his departure at Pirates in 2017, where he spent three years with the Buccaneers after joining from Nkwazi FC in his home country.

The 26-year old striker was then snapped up by Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila (now known as Marumo Gallants), but he only stayed with the club for a few months before the move to Cape City and things seemed promising for him.

Born in Chipata, Zambia, this will be the second time Shonga will be trying to secure a contract through trials having also tried his luck with DStv Premiership side AmaZulu FC in KwaZulu-Natal before the start of the current season in South Africa. But, things didn’t go well for the striker, as he could have linked with former Pirates striking partner and national teammate Augustine Mulenga.

According to reports in Egypt, Shonga is currently with the squad in their Alexandria training camp with the team preparing for the start of the season.
