Both the Apple iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max complete the company’s lineup for this year. Building from the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, these flagships introduce new features to camera hardware and display technology.
Most advanced cameras on an iPhone
The camera system on both the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max features new sensors and lenses for all three cameras, with all three featuring night mode. The wide camera has the largest sensor on an iPhone ever with lower noise and faster shutter speeds when taking photos. Moreover, this sensor also contributes to better low-light performance thanks to sensor-shift OIS.
For its ultrawide camera, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max sees a 92 per-cent improvement in low-light environments. It also brings introduces autofocus capabilities and macro-photography. With the latter, you can capture images and videos with a minimum focus distance of 2cm. Lastly, both models sport a new 77mm telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom technology.
Massive leap in videography
The entire iPhone 13 series now comes with a new Cinematic mode allowing for automatic focus changes when capturing video. For further creative control, you can also change the focus of the video during and after a video has been captured, alongside the level of background blur making the iPhone 13 lineup the only device that can do so.
Taking things one step further, you also find ProRes support here. This is an advanced video codec used widely as the final delivery format for commercials, feature films and broadcasts. This powerful new pro workflow is enabled by the new camera hardware and advanced video encoders and decoders in the the A15 Bionic CPU.
A15 Bionic CPU with 5-core GPU
The A15 Bionic CPU on the iPhone 13 Pro lineup is even more advanced with a new 5-core GPU. This means that it brings the fastest graphics performance in any smartphone, up to 50 per-cent faster than the leading competition. Otherwise, you will benefit from the 6-core CPU and the new 16-core Neural Engine for faster performance.
ProMotion display
On its iPhone 13 Pro lineup, Apple has finally introduced ProMotion technology. The 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR displays on the smartphones are its most advanced yet, featuring a 20 per-cent smaller notch.
They support an adaptive refresh rate from 10Hz to 120Hz for tailored performance when required. Coupled with iOS 15 and the new A15 Bionic CPU, the higher refresh rate will make gestures, animations and activities within gameplay feel faster and more responsive.
New design and improved battery life
The iPhone 13 Pro lineup features a premium flat-edge design made up of exceptional materials including surgical-grade stainless steel and a texture matte glass back. The front of the devices are protected with Ceramic Shield with additional durability thanks to IP68 water and dust resistance. As for battery life, the iPhone 13 Pro will last up to one and a half hours longer compared to last year’s iPhone 12 Pro whereas the iPhone 13 Pro Max will last two and a half hours longer than the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Pricing and availability
Both the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will be available in graphite, gold, silver and sierra blue with an all-new 1TB storage option. Pre-orders for the smartphones will be available starting September 17 at 4PM UAE time. The iPhone 13 Pro will retail starting for Dh4,199 whereas the iPhone 13 Pro Max will retail starting for Dh4,699.
