– Garlic paste and clove oil

The patient suffering from Chikungunya can lessen the inflammation and joint pain, majorly around the knees, by applying garlic paste or clove oil with some pepper.

– Hot water bath with Epsom salt

Taking a hot water bath with some Epsom salt and neem leaves helps in improving immunity and in reducing pain.

– Turmeric

Turmeric is no less than an elixir for an Indian household. It has been proven to be useful for Chikungunya patients as well. Consuming turmeric has proven to be useful in curing Chikungunya as it has high antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

– Sunflower seeds

Applying sunflower seeds soaked in honey on the knees and joints helps in reducing the pain.

– Eating carrots

Not like Bugs Bunny, but you can surely consume some carrots in the form of salad during or after recovering from Chikungunya. It helps in improving immunity and replenishing the body.


Consumption of tulsi and ashwagandha leaves has also been proven to be effective in curing Chikungunya. It helps in reducing fever as well.

– Coconut Water

Since Chikungunya leads to dehydration, it is important for patients to consume coconut water every day. It helps in detoxifying the body and faster recovery.
